Orphan drug recognition

The European Medicines Agency of the European Commission has granted Co-Artesiane (artemether/lumefantrine) with the status of orphan drug for the treatment of malaria.

Orphan drugs can be described as medicines that have been developed to treat rare medical conditions. According to EMEA these drugs are "intended for the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of life-threatening or chronically debilitating conditions that affect no more than five in 10,000 people in the European Union, or are medicines which, for economic reasons, would be unlikely to be developed without incentives."

For Dafra Pharma International this recognition is an important prove of appreciation for the good work the entire Dafra Pharma team has been doing for many years.
